About Tina

Tina is a Senior Structural Technologist / BIM Specialist with Herold Engineering on Vancouver Island.  She is a highly accomplished, certified Technologist with over 16 years of structural buildings experience and 9 years of professional Building Information Modelling (BIM) experience.  Tina has a very diverse role at Herold Engineering which includes production, coordination, collaboration, and review of structural project models and drawings, training and mentoring of all technicians and technologists within the two island offices, workload resourcing and planning, as well as BIM Specialist for the company.  As BIM Specialist, she takes part in corporate strategic planning related to BIM implementation and future construction technologies, develops and delivers staff training, creates BIM content and standards, and improves processes and workflows.  

On the leading edge of BIM development, Tina has created structural Building Information Models and documentation for innovative architectural and structural designs.  A few examples of this work include; the Nassau Bahamas Airport Expansion, the Edmonton International Airport Expansion, the Brentwood College Girls Dormitory, the Kelowna General Hospital Clinical Services Building, and the UVIC Continuing Studies Building.  


Tina is also an avid Autodesk Revit Structure user, promoter and member of Autodesk’s Expert Elite.  This select group of experts is peer nominated, then vetted by Autodesk based upon their knowledge, demonstrated leadership, community contributions, and collaboration abilities.  Tina is one of only 134 Expert Elite members in North America. She is also the Chair of BIMbc Victoria Revit Users Group, Vice Chair of Women in Construction Nanaimo and sits on the Canadian BIM Council’s Executive Design committee placing her well in the community to share her skills and experience.  Tina has presented on the topic of Revit Structure at Autodesk University and the Revit Technologies Conference.  Tina has been involved in teaching Revit Structure through workshops, user group sessions and formal instruction since 2006. Her experience and teaching capabilities make her a valuable resource for this very specialized software and a popular speaker and presenter nationwide on not only the software but also the process and methods of utilizing the software in the AEC industry. Tina is also the Community Representative for ASTTBC in Victoria assisting and promoting BC’s science technicians and technologists in the community.
